Are you running out of ideas to entertain your toddler? I get it and I have been there. Tha tis why I decided to put a list of easy activities for toddlers together just for you. It has been a challenge entertaining my toddler these days especially during quarantine (which is finally slowly lifting, yay) as I’m sure most stay at home moms have been in the same position. Let’s just say, I may be using it more than my toddler. It is SO much fun and has been a wonderful, creative outlet for me. But more importantly, my son LOVES it. Since we have had it, he has been asking to play with it.

WHY I LOVE IT

If you have been around here, you know how much I love products that serve more than one purpose. Like I touched on above, this isn’t just an activity for toddlers and kids but it can also be used by anyone. It’s a great stress reliever and creative outlet. It can be used as home decor, decoration for parties (I’ll be using it for my youngest son’s first birthday coming up), and for cute pictures.

The chalk markers are kid safe and easy to clean which is a must for all parents, right?! These markers can be wiped clean with water or Windex making it mess free. Mess free is huge for our toddlers and a mom win for sure. When I was testing it out, I kept messing up and all it took was a damp towel to wipe it clean and start over. It was such an easy process.

Another cool thing about the chalk markers is that you don’t necessarily need a chalk board to use them on. They can be used on an non-porous surface so like glass, metal, ceramic, plastic, etc.

The quality and functionality of the chalk markers make writing/coloring effortless. Other chalk markers I have used in the past look so faded when used and you have to press down hard to get it to look bold and vibrant. All you have to do with the chalkola markers is shake them for 30 seconds and press the tip on the surface a few times and then you’re good. And when it starts to fade, you just press again to make the chalk paint come to the surface.

Fun and Easy Activities For Toddlers

First Activity is free play

This is obvious but is a great way for your toddler to practice independent play. It is also great for fine motor skills.

PRO TIP: Prep the markers first by shaking them and pressing them on a surface to get them ready. Toddler and patience doesn’t always go hand and hand so getting all the markers ready is helpful. That way they can grab and go.

Second Activity is learning shapes, numbers, and letters

You can draw shapes, write the alphabet, and write numbers so that your toddler can trace it. It’s fun and helps them learn all of the above. My toddler didn’t quite understand the concept but he loved copying me. And I can’t wait to continue to practice with him.

Third Activity is learning colors

Using the Chalkola markers and chalk board is also a great tool for learning colors. Before my son would use a chalk marker, I would tell him what color he had or I would ask him what color he had in his hand. 

While he was coloring and drawing, I would periodically ask him to tell me the colors he was using. And if he didn’t know, I would tell him and then ask him to repeat. Repetition is key. My son learns better if he is having fun so I actually had some success with teaching him the colors. 

Fourth Activity is learning his name

He doesn’t quite have his letters down (we are working on it) but I thought I would give it a try and will continue to practice. I explained to him that this is how you spell your name and went over each letter. I had him try to trace it. And even though he didn’t quite get it, he had a lot of fun.
