Best Postpartum Clothes For New Moms
High Waisted Jeans:
After my second pregancy, the mommy pooch was real. Every pants I wore or tried to wear, my tummy would hang over. I felt embarrassed and just not beautiful at all. High waisted jeans made all the difference for hiding my mommy pooch. I did size up my jeans (which I avoided for the longest time) but so glad I did because I was WAY more comfortable. At the end of the day, the number doesn’t matter. As long as you feel good and beautiful then that’s what matters. Don’t be afraid to size up, Mama!
Leggings:
I know, I know! This is an obvious one right!? But leggings are a mama must! I’m not talking about just any leggings though. I am talking about the kind of leggings that you can pull up over your mommy pooch. I still wear my maternity leggings too (no shame) but there are also a bunch of leggings out there (even workout ones) that you can comfortably pull up over your tummy. I’ll link some below. Also, don’t be afraid to size up. I would also recommend thick leggings so you can wear them dressed up. A lot of leggings are see through so finding a good, thick pair are a must for going out and about in them.
Maternity Clothes:
I mentioned above that I still wear maternity leggings but I also wear my jeans, shorts, dress pants, shirts, etc. Just because you aren’t pregnant anymore does not mean you can’t still wear your maternity clothes. They are comfortable and tuck my belly in so why the heck not! Wear whatever makes you feel confident. Plus, I like getting my wear out of maternity clothes because they can be expensive.
Loose, Long Shirts/Tank Tops:
Tight clothes are not my friend postpartum. Anything that flows, falls past your tummy, and is loose fitting with be your best friend postpartum. It can be tricky though because sometimes really loose shirts can make you feel/look larger. I recommend finding shirts/tank tops that are made to flow out. I have even sized up on some too and it works like a charm. I’ll link some shirts below that I have been loving.
Maxi Dresses that Flow:
I love a good maxi dress especially the ones that are nursing friendly. A long dress that flows and hides that mommy pooch is a must especially for Spring/Summer. Throwing a jean jacket or vest over also hides any unwanted fat on your tummy, sides, and back.
Vests:
Not only do I love throwing a cute vest over an outfit to pull it together but it does a great job at hiding the mommy pooch! It allows me to wear tighter fitting sweaters or sweatshirts that I would not wear if I didn’t have a vest.
Camisoles:
I live in my nursing camisoles. They smooth my fat out so that I can confidently wear tighter fitting clothes if I need too. Also, covers my belly when I need to nurse.Even if you don’t breastfeed, having a few camisoles that fit well are an important item to have during your postpartum journey. I also sized up to a large so they fit more comfortably. Don’t forget to make sure they are long camisoles. Short ones weren’t flattering on my plus super annoying because they would constantly ride up.
Crew-necks:
Comfy crew-necks have been my best friend lately. I am a stay at home mom and they are the perfect item to wear around the house. They are loose fitting, cute, and hides my belly. I have been loving my MAMA crew-neck below. It even has pockets.
